For the third year in a row, Cafe Escadrille has been named a recipient of Wine Spectator magazine's 2020 Best of Award of Excellence, which recognizes restaurants that embody "a passion for exploring and sharing the world of wine". Café Escadrille is the only restaurant in Burlington that received a 2020 Best of Award of Excellence, and the restaurant is one of only eight venues in the Boston area to receive this level of the award in 2020.

According to Wine Spectator, winners of the award represent "everything from neighborhood wine bars serving small plates to opulent palaces with star chefs and elaborate tasting menus." The awards are given across three categories: Award of Excellence, Best of Award of Excellence, and the Grand Award.

The Best of Award of Excellence recognizes restaurants and other venues with a wine list that displays excellent breadth across multiple wine-growing regions and/or significant vertical depth of top producers, along with superior presentation. Typically offering 350 or more selections, these restaurants are destinations for serious wine lovers, showing a deep commitment to wine, both in the cellar and through their service team.
